Food festivals are celebrated across the globe from South Africa to the Middle East and throughout Europe not just as culinary showcases but as vibrant expressions of national identity. A country’s influence on the global stage is shaped in part by the reach and recognition of its cuisine, making culinary culture a vital component of soft power.
As a leading regional power in sub-Saharan Africa, Nigeria is globally recognized for its artistic and cultural contributions. Now, it’s time for its rich and diverse culinary heritage to take centre stage.
From the heart of West Africa to communities around the world, Nigerian food tells a powerful story of heritage, resilience, and pride.
Following the success of its inaugural edition which notably welcomed Canada’s former Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, the Flavours of Nigeria Festival returns for Season 2 on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Gage Park, Brampton, from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
