Abeokuta North LG legislature elects principal officers, commits to peace and development

The legislative arm of Abeokuta North Local Government in Ogun State has successfully elected its principal officers at its sitting on Friday.

Following an agreement reached among the 16 elected councillors in consultation with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government, the lawmakers elected the four principal officers for the smooth conduct of legislative business.

The principal officers are: Hon. Moruff Erubami (Oke Ogun, Ward 15) as the House Leader; Hon. Waheed Akomolafe (Gbagura, Ward 8) as the Deputy Leader; Hon. Olasehinde Ojoye (Oke Ona, Ward 3) as the  Majority  Leader, and  Hon. Moruff Ajibola (Owu, Ward 12) as the  Chief Whip.

The emergence of the officers has put an end to the initial tension, which heated up on Thursday during a session to pick the house principal officers.

The proceedings of the house was observed by some Ogun State government officials and party leaders including the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, the Hon. Commissioner for Forestry, Hon. Oludotun Taiwo, the Abeokuta North APC Chairman, Alhaja Faidat Akintunde-Sarumi, a former Chairman of Abeokuta North, Barr. Habeeb Ajayi, others are Princess Ronke Ogunremi, Engr. Seni Ayorinde, among others.

The council’s legislative leadership met briefly with the Chairman, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo and the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbeyemi with commitment to peace and common good of the people of Abeokuta North  Local Government.
