Tecno, the mobile Telecoms Company, on Thursday, March 31st unveiled its latest music phone, the TECNO BOOM J8. The official launch took place at Golf View Hotel, GRA, Ikeja – Lagos – and had a good number of Nigerian artistes in attendance.
Speaking at the product launch, the company’s MD, Mr. Chidi Okonkwo said: “At the core of all our endeavors is a burning desire to empower mobile users through their experience of the brand. On that note, the new Tecno Boom J8 is a total upgrade on all predecessor music phones Tecno has released in the past years- its high-end specifications is testament to this claim”.
The upgraded music smartphone also flagged off a new era of TECNO mobile devices which run on TECNO’s custom operating system, the HiOS. The unique user interface of the HiOS, improved app management options and highly optimized audio features, place the new TECNO BOOM J8 at the core of mobile customers’ demands, said Tecno Marketing and PR lead, Mr. Attai Oguche.
“The HiOS operating system which gives the BOOM J8 more room for intuitive functions and the phone’s highly optimized software features, has earned it impressive ratings from mobile tech analysts who partnered TECNO in reviewing the smart phone before its launch. TECNO’s BOOM J8 might well be the best music-centric smartphone of its price range in the market,” he said. It costs N40,999 only.
“Over the years, our team of software developers has worked tirelessly to create a unique user experience across all Tecno mobile devices; to tailor a user interface so intuitive that it truly embodies the spirit of the Tecno brand. It was a huge task, but today we are pleased to say we’ve achieved that goal. Today, our next generation music phone, Tecno Boom J8 runs on our custom tailored operating system, the HiOS. This uniquely tailored android 5.1 OS flaunts TECNO’s own expression of mobile user interface-the HiOS’ UI is nothing like mobile users have experienced before”, Okonkwo added.
Besides showcasing TECNO’s HiOS, the new Boom J8 flaunts other top-of-the-line features such as immersive 5.5” IPS HD touch screen, 13MP AF Back/5.0MP Front geo-tagging cameras with optical image stabilization (OIS) and dual LED flash powered by MediaTek Quad-core processor and stomachs 2GB RAM/ 16GB internal memory space. It also has an upgraded 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory expandable to 132GB.
“Tecno Boom J8 rewards music lovers with custom Boom headphones. Each box of the smart phone comes with a free headphone but it is the Boom Max app, a pre-installed custom music equalization feature that will totally hook mobile users who listen to music in detail,” said Jesse Oguntimehin, Tecno digital marketing lead.
Tecno Boom J8 music phone is a flagrant upgrade on its predecessor, Tecno Boom J7 and J5 launched in the earlier part of 2015. The smartphone comes pre-installed with the Boom player app-Africa’s largest in-app music library and the new Palmchat 5.2 social messaging app.
In summary, Okonkwo said the Boom J8 matches the hype with premium specifications and material design. “This music phone is elegant in every way; it is a sheer product of hard work and outlandish thinking”. On the choice of a music phone, Oguche explained that music is a universal language. “Music is everywhere – in celebration, even in death so why not come up with a music phone? You cannot carry your home theatre everywhere so you put the music on the phone. We went to the best music factory in the world and got them to put their chip on our phone and the sound is impressive”.
According to him, Tecno is a dynamic company that caters for the evolving needs of its consumers. Hence, the target market for this new device are the young-at-heart, youths and music lovers.
