Asaba Bubbles with Excitement as Easy Starter Fiesta Hits Town

Nigeria’s most innovative telecommunications company, Etisalat Nigeria brought joy to thousands of its subscribers in Asaba, Delta State with the third edition of its Easy Starter fiesta held with funfair at the St Patrick’s School Complex.
Easy Starter is the family prepaid package from Etisalat that offers a bounty of uniquely designed services with competitive tariffs, and admirable flexibility. Customers on Easy Starter can enjoy five free megabytes, Home Zone, U & Me; and Receiver Pays in addition to affordable call rates.
Speaking at the event, Manager, Mass Market Segment, Etisalat Nigeria, Nnamdi Ezeani, described the fiesta as a brand building initiative designed to bond with the host communities, brand’s customers and drive affinity.

In his words: “This fiesta is a monthly initiative across Nigeria and hosted by Easy Starter, the most family focused offering in the Nigerian telecommunications market. In the family, you have the young and the old. We are using the 5-aside football to connect with consumers at their passion points and help discover future champions. This probably explains why everyone that matters in the Delta State Ministry of Sports is here today to identify with a laudable initiative.”
Director of Sports, Organising, Delta State Ministry of Sports, Mrs Mercy Awolor, said: “We are a sports loving state. You can tell this from the antecedents of the State. So when Etisalat mooted the idea of a 5-Aside competition, we had to grab it with two hands because it is a good initiative from which we can discover new talents to build on our success story in sports.”
Four teams code-named, 5-Megabytes, Home Zone, Receiver Pays and U & Me from the major towns of Delta State vied for honours in a round-robin competition that got the large crowd cheering most of the time. Asaba was represented by two teams while Warri and Ughelli had one representative each.
5-Megabytes took on Receiver Pays in the first game of the fiesta, beating their opponents by 2 goals to nothing. In the second match of the day, U & Me edged out Home Zone by a lone goal to join 5-Megabytes in the final. In the third place match, Home Zone beat Receiver Pays by a lone goal. 5-Megabytes, a team coached by Innocent Ikenna Opara displayed resilience to pip U & Me to the trophy via penalties as the regulation time produced no goals.
A jubilant Opara said: “I am in heaven now. I have been a grassroots coach for five years and this is my first trophy. So you can imagine how special it is to me and the team. I give kudos to Etisalat Nigeria for this opportunity. I know my boys are motivated by this win to go on and conquer the world. My team and Etisalat are both young but I tell you, we are poised to take on and conquer the world!”
Some of the dignitaries that graced the event were former Chairman, Oshimili South Local Government, Chinedu Okafor, Director, Sports Organising, Delta State Sports Commission, Director, Administration, Delta State Sports Commission, Patrick Aboloje; and Head Coach, Delta State Sports Commission, Kenneth Ikpawore. The fourth edition of the fiesta is slated for next month in Enugu, Enugu State.
